Biking on River’s End Campground and RV Park is not only a lot of fun but there are many health benefits to doing it.
Riding a bike allows a workout not to feel like the dreaded exercise. Not only does it strengthen your leg muscles, it’s easy on the joints and you receive the same cardiovascular benefits that you get from any other form of aerobic exercise like walking or jogging.
Bike Friendly Country
That’s how the League of American Cyclists designates Tybee Island. In addition to the flat ground, the island is just three miles long, meaning you can get almost anywhere by bike. Tybee has bike rentals, shops, routes and trails you can enjoy throughout the year.
Tim’s Beach Gear is a one stop shop for all types of bike rentals including tandem bikes, trikes and child carriers. If you have a bike, repairs and tune-ups are also offered at the shop.
Biking on the beach is the best. There is also birding trail on North Beach by the Tybee Island Lighthouse you can enjoy as you ride.
For a six mile jaunt, bike the McQueen’s Island Trail that runs adjacent to the Savannah and Atlantic Rail Road line. You travel across wildlife areas, saltwater marshes and historic sites like Fort Pulaski. Who knows, you might see a box turtle, alligator or even a dolphin!
